To graduate, Washington high school students must earn at least 20 credits and generally need to pass state tests in English language arts, math and science. Washington high school students must also write a post-high-school plan, according to the Washington Office of Superintendent of Public Instruction.
In the 2015 U.S. News Best High Schools rankings, there are eight Washington schools with gold medals, 56 with silver medals and 105 with bronze medals. The highly ranked International School, in the Bellevue School District, is about 10 miles from Seattle and roughly 70 miles from Olympia.
